Explore Canberra’s Asian Cuisine

After living in Canberra for a few years, I have been exposed to different restaurants one after another. As my partner and I are foodies, we have tried different cuisines in Canberra. Today, I will share with you the restaurants that we feel are good value for money and delicious. Because my partner and I both like Asian cuisine, the restaurants we recommend today are Asian cuisine restaurant.

Korean Restaurants

Since I spent my university in northeast of China and there are many authentic Korean restaurants in northeast China, I know how authentic the Korean food is. The Tasty Hill in Canberra is one of my favourite Korean restaurants. The restaurant focuses on barbecue, and the grill inside is the same as the authentic Korean restaurants I had in the authentic Korean restaurants. More importantly, the marinated meat and the accompanying sauces are tasty. The service at the Korean restaurant in Canberra is not quite the same as what I have been exposed to. The authentic Korean restaurant will have a staff to grill the meat and then serve us. But I think there are advantages to grilling by ourselves, we can talk more freely. The waiters will keep coming to ask if we need help or add sauce. All in all, I would recommend The Tasty Hill to anyone who likes Korean food.

Thai restaurants

There are quite a few restaurants in Canberra that do mainly Thai food, from the different food courts to the various stores down the street. I have been to Thailand myself before and have eaten at some Thai restaurants. I would recommend the authentic Thai restaurants. The authentic Thai restaurant is called Thip’s Thai, where the owner is Thai and many of the dishes are the same as what I ate in Thailand, I especially like their Pad Thai and Grill pork. They have fewer locations, so it’s best to go at night or call before you go. Because the restaurant is relatively small, there are not many employees serving, but the basic services are still provided.

Japanese restaurant

When walking around my house in winter, I found a Japanese restaurant, called Rajin Japanese Cuisine, located near a residential area, with a special dinning atmosphere. You could see their special restaurant decor when you passed by. Of course, when I talked to their landlord, I was surprised to find out that they are a couple from Japan who immigrated to this area and started their own restaurant business. They have a unique black curry rice, which you can’t get in other Japanese restaurants in Canberra. And their ramen is like what I had in Japan, so I highly recommend this restaurant for those who like Japanese curry and ramen.

Southeast Asian cuisine

Zaab is a very satisfied Southeast Asian fusion cuisine I have been to. This restaurant looks like a bar. This restaurant has large portions, basically order two dishes for two people is enough. The owner of this restaurant is also very nice and friendly, and she asked from time to time if the dishes were to our liking during our mealtime. The whole lunch process was very enjoyable and the dishes they made were very tasty. Here you can try Thai grill chicken, and some Vietnamese style fried beef. All in all, this restaurant has a mix of Southeast Asian dishes but with some new and creative twists. I think the service and taste are awesome.
